Weihnachten

Ich wünsche allen eine frohe und gesegnete Weihnacht, besinnliche Feiertage, einen guten Rutsch ins neue Jahr und alles Gute, Gesundheit, Glück und Erfolg für 2010!
Für Australier startet Weihnachten morgen, am ersten Weihnachtsfeiertag. Da ich mit der Tradition anders aufgewachsen bin, bin ich schon heute in Weihnachtsstimmung. Ich war in der Kirche zum Krippenspiel (habe eine evangelische Gemeinde gefunden), hatte Reissalat mit Steak anstatt Kartoffelsalat mit Wiener, und geniesse gerade einen Glühwein.

For Australian the real Christmas starts tomorrow on Christmas Day. As I kinda grow up with another tradition, my Christmas started tonite on Christmas Eve, and I'm in Christmas mood. I went to church for the kids play of the Christmas Story (found a lutheran church in the city), I had rice salad with steak instead of potato salad with sausages, and now I'm having a Glühwein.

Bali Back

Bin seit gestern zurück in Oz, bin durch Einwanderung und Zoll in nichtmal 15 Minuten durch - Rekord! Allerdings muss ich sagen, dass er hier verdammt kalt ist im Vergleich zu Bali, kann mich aber freuen dass ich nicht D bin mit dem Schneechaos. Bali war fantastisch im Sinne von ausruhen, rumeiern und nichts machen. Ich hab mir dort ein paar Kleider geholt, nur musste ich grad feststellen beim Foto anschauen dass ich kein einziges Photo von mir im Kleid habe, damit gibts nur ein Portrait von mir.

I arrived yesterday safe and sound back in Oz, got through immigration and customs in less than 15 minutes - record!!!But, to be honest, it's bloody cold here in comparison to Bali, but instead of complaining I really should be happy that I'm not Europe with all the snow chaos. Bali is really nice and good to relax, veg around and doing nothing. I also got me some dresses over there, but I just realized while going through the pictures that I don't have a single photo of me in one of the dresses, so you just get a portrait of me.

Da ja bald Weihnachten ist und ich ein liebes Mädchen war, habe ich vom Weihnachtsmann ein Geschenk bekommen - okay, ich hab's mir selber gemacht, aber was solls. Anyway, ich fliege morgen früh nach Bali für sechs Tage vorgezogenem Weihnachtsurlaub. Sonne satt!

As it's soon Christmas and with me always being a nice girl Santa already gave me my Christmas present - okay, not quiet true, I gave it to myself. Anyway, I gonna fly tomorrow morning to Bali for six days early bird Christmas hols...

Trip up North - Day 1 Photos

Trip up North - Day 1

Quadbike

Ich wollte ja von meinem Trip berichten, nur hatte ich am Wochenende keine Zeit weil ich Fahrstunden auf dem Quadbike hatte - ein Quadbike ist ein Motorrad mit vier statt zwei Rädern, was der Balance und der Einfachheit sehr zuträglich ist. Das ganze ist dann aber immer noch sehr kompliziert, da ich keine Motorrad Erfahrung habe (mitfahren zählt nicht) und die Hand - Fuß Koordinierung nicht immer so funktionierte wie ich mir das wünschte.
Quadbikes sind in Oz nicht auf der Strasse erlaubt, und werden sehr oft auf den Outback Farmen eingesetzt anstelle von Pferden etc. Netterweise braucht man keine Lizenz zum fahren, einfach draufsetzen und los gehts. Naja okay, zwischendurch abwürgen muss auch sein :) Und weil so ein Quadbike ein bißchen gelenkiger ist als ein Auto, kann man damit auch über "Berge" fahren.

Originally I wanted to write more about my trip, but I didn't have time because I went quad biking on the weekend. Quadbikes are like motorbikes, but with four wheels, which makes it way more easier to balance and to handle. But it was still complicated, as I have no experience whatsoever (being a passenger doesn't count) and the whole coordination of my hands and feet didn't work out all the time as I wanted it to do.
Quadbikes aren't allowed on the streets in Oz, just off roads, but are used very often on stations in the outback instead of horses. As you don't need a licence, you just can start and take off... okay, and sometimes you just stall. Quadbikes are a tad more flexible than cars, so that you can do some "mountain" driving ;)

Nicht über das Video lachen, die Profis machen das natürlich viel schneller und mit Sprüngen, aber für den Anfang ist es schon ganz gut.

Don't laugh about the movie, professionals are of course way faster and jump more around, but for me and the beginning it's quite good.
